Baba Siddique extended Dussehra wishes in last social media post

Former Maharashtra Minister and NCP (Ajit Pawar) leader Baba Siddique was shot dead on Saturday night, while he was bursting firecrackers on Dussehra. Hours before he was killed, he wished the nation on the occasion, in his final post on X.
“Happy #Dussehra Everyone!!! May this Dussehra bring you all happiness, peace and prosperity”, Baba Siddique posted on X (formerly Twitter), clubbed with an image featuring the text in Hindi that read “Vijayadashmi Ki Hardik Shubhkaamnayein (Hearty Vijayadashmi wishes)”.
The post was made at 11:11 am on October 12, and Siddique was shot near his office between 9:15 pm and 9:30 pm on Saturday when he was bursting firecrackers on the occasion of Dussehra, police said.
As Siddique was bursting firecrackers, three assailants emerged from a vehicle, with their faces covered with handkerchiefs. Without warning, they opened fire with a 9.9 mm pistol. They fired six rounds, one of which struck Siddique in the chest, causing him to collapse on the spot.
Siddique was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, Bandra (West) for treatment but was declared dead by doctors.
Two accused — Gurmail Baljit Singh, 23, from Haryana and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap, 19, from Uttar Pradesh — were arrested, while the third one — Shiv Kumar from UP — is on the run. On Sunday, another accused was identified in the case — Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar.
Police said efforts were on to trace the mastermind behind the shooting. The attack was pre-planned, the shooters were paid in advance and received their weapons a few days ago, according to the investigation so far.
